About Us
CILAJ is a family-run enterprise that delivers co2-neutral biofuels.
The company was founded by Peter Møller Nielsen – CILAJ was from the start a personal project for him, and he can, with 28 years in the industry, vouch for CILAJ’s products regarding both quality, prices and, not least, sustainability.
In addition to Director Peter Møller Nielsen, the company includes the employees Johanne M. Berg, Alexander M. Berg and Nichlas Berg. All three of them grew up in this family business and thus, they are extremely dedicated and professional in their work.
It is the focal point for the company that the bio-oils are manufactured on the basis of extraction of Earth’s own resources.
Tank installations
We offer storage of all our products. We can store the oil for you in one of our petrol stations in Spjald or Næstved.
Bio-powered heat and power plant
Our heat and power plant produces electricity and heat – exclusively on bio-oil, and with very high energy efficiency. All heat to our tank installations and to our other facilities are powered by our own bio-oil.
The family Møller Nielsen’s interest in alternative energy sources started during the oil crisis in the 1970s with a quest for everything flammable that could saturate the stoker. Early in the 1980s a branch of the family from Canada told that they fired with canola oil. An attempt was made at home in Harboøre, and the result was amazing.
Contact to the heat and power plant
In the town Thyborøn nearby, the fishing industry used trash fish to heat up the factories, but almost all of the many tons of rotten fish went to waste, because it was in the cargo when the ships came home after three weeks at sea. Peter Møller Nielsen did not like this wastage.
Convinced and encouraged by fish oil’s high calorific value and the experience with his own stoker, Peter Møller Nielsen contacted Dronninglund heat and power plant. “Wasn’t it something to try an alternative source of energy for half the price of fossil fuel?”. Peter Møller Nielsen ran the financial risk. He felt confident in his case.
CILAJ is established
May 7. 1987 Dronninglund heat and power plant got its first delivery. In the evening an enthusiastic work manager called and told that the fish oil worked terrific. CILAJ energy was a reality.
The rumor spread. Soon Peter Møller Nielsen delivered bio-oil for district heating plants across the country. Peter Møller Nilsen kept his shipping job at Cheminova in a few years, while he worked at CILAJ in the morning hours from kl. 7-9.
The fishing industry evolved, fortunately, and it became better to exploit its own raw materials. Vessels could be at sea for much longer, and they were able to land fish in better conditions. At the same time research in cardiovascular disease helped to promote the request for good fish oil as a preventative measure.
In both fish oil and vegetable oils, two-three percent of the natural fatty acids are always removed for the sake of taste. It is the very rancid butter acid. It tastes horribly but it burns great.
On the international commodity market, there are also always by-products in trade.
CILAJ diminishes the products which burn the best.
Here is the future
Driven by the idea of even better alternatives to the limited, polluting and expensive fossil fuels, CILAJ developed and built, for own funds, a pilot power plant in Spjald in 1995. Here they produced heat and electricity with very high energy efficiency – with very limited co2 emission and without emission of sulfuric acid into the rainwater.
In this, CILAJ sees the future.
Over the years CILAJ has built up a clientele that includes both public institutions, companies and private households.
